When your aim is to touch the sky, first put your forehead on the ground in sujood!
Imam Ibn al-Jawzi said:
“O you who are turned away, O you who are deprived of meeting your loved ones, if you want to know how you stand before the king, then look at how you are spending your time and what work you are assigned to do. How many people stand at the door of the king, but no one enters except the one whom he cares for. Not every heart is fit to draw close, not every heart can be filled with love, not every wind is like the morning breeze.”
Gratitude may be in the heart, in submission and humility; on the tongue, in praise and acknowledgement; and in the physical faculties, by means of obedience and submission.
– Ibn al Qayyim rahimahullah
“If you cannot pray qiyaam at night and fast during the day, then know that you are deprived.” – al-Fudayl
“Faith wears out in your heart as clothes wear out, so ask Allaah to renew the faith in your hearts.”
– Prophet Muhammad (sallAllahu ‘alaihi wa sallam)
The Messenger (sallAllahu ‘alaihi wa salaam) narrated that his Lord said: “My love is guaranteed for two who love one another for My sake; My love is guaranteed for two who visit one another for My sake; My love is guaranteed for two who help one another (financially) for My sake; My love is guaranteed to for two who uphold ties with one another for My sake.”
Narrated by Ahmad, and 4/236 and 5/236; Saheeh al-Targheeb wa’l-Tarheeb, 3019, 3020, 3021.
End the day today with Allah’s Promise of Mercy, and vow to increase in His Obedience. By Allah, when any creation loves you, cares for you, professes affection & mercy for you – don’t you automatically lean towards him/her and sub-consciously get ready to do anything for them? Then how much greater is the Status of our Lord, how much more does He deserve your obedience, your love, your allegiance?
Allah’s Messenger (sallAllahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) said: “Indeed, before Allah created the creation, He decreed for Himself, ‘Indeed My Mercy prevails over My Anger.”
[Saheeh al-Bukharee and Saheeh Muslim (17/68)]
Few are the problems that stay while sitting in the shadow of your mother and father. They may not know modern technology very well, might not be ‘updated’ with what’s cool and what’s not; but you can be sure they have learnt more than a few things about life that only come with maturity and experience. Sit with them quietly with a cup of tea, and let silence tell its tales of wisdom and serenity.
Signs of Allah’s Love Upon You: Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said: “When Allaah loves a slave, He calls out to Jibreel and says: ‘I love so-and-so, so love him’. Then Jibreel loves him. After that, he (i.e., Jibreel) announces to the inhabitants of heavens that: ‘Allaah loves so-and-so, so love him’; then the inhabitants of the heavens (i.e., the angels) also love him and they then make the people on earth love him too.” [Al-Bukhaari & Muslim]
Are we safe from the 7 deadly sins? Let’s strive to stay away from them, and spread the knowledge to your family & friends!
The Prophet (sallAllahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) said:
“Avoid the seven (sins) that doom a person to Hell. They said: O Messenger of Allah, what are they? He said:
1. Associating others with Allah (shirk),
2. Witchcraft,
3. Killing a soul whom Allah has forbidden killing, except in cases required by law,
4. Consuming riba (interest),
5. Consuming the orphan’s wealth,
6. Running away from the battlefield, and
7. Slandering chaste and innocent believing women.”
(Narrated in al-Saheehayn)
” ‘The slogan of the Muslim’ is the words of the Prophet (sallAllahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) in du’aa’ al-istikhaarah: ‘and ordain for me the good wherever it may be and make me pleased with it.’ “
One of the perfect ways of showing instant gratitude to Allah when something pleasing happens is Sujood al-shukr (Prostration of Thankfulness!
Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (rahimahullah) said:
“Sujood al-shukr is done in response to a calamity that is averted or a blessing which comes to a person. It is like sujood al-tilaawah outside prayer. Some of the scholars said that wudoo’ and takbeer is required, and some said that only the first takbeer is required. Then he should fall down in prostration, and make du’aa’ after saying “Subhaana Rabbiy al-A’laa (Glory be to my Lord Most High).”
“Obedience is stored up in the stores of Allah; (1) its key is du‘a and (2) its means is permissible earnings.”
(Yahya ibn Mu‘adh al-Razi)
Easy words, big benefit!
The Prophet (sallAllahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) said: “Whoever asks Allah for Paradise three times, Paradise will say, ‘O Allah, admit him to Paradise.’ Whoever seeks protection from the Fire three times, Hell will say, ‘O Allah, protect him from the Fire.’”
(Saheeh al-Jaami’, 6275)
In Arabic: You may say, “Allahumma as’alukal Jannah” & “Allahumma ajirni min an-naar”
Aameen!
How easy become 5 prayers a day, how easy becomes this brief period of obedience, how worthwhile seems this little while of patience & persistence when you keep your thoughts on what lies ahead. By Allah, my brothers and sisters, I promise you that Jannah is True! Just a little while more, a little effort more, and we will be there by His Will!
The Prophet (sallAllahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) said: “A caller will cry out (to the people of Paradise): ‘You will be healthy and will never fall sick; you will live and will never die; you will remain young and will never grow old; you will feel ease and will never be miserable.’ This is what Allah says: ‘And it will be cried out to them: “This is the Paradise which you have inherited for what you used to do”’ [al-A’raaf 7:43].
The Excellence of serving your parents!
Ibn ‘Umar (radhiAllahu ‘anhuma) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (sallAllahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) said: “Three men went out walking and rain began to fall on them. They entered a cave in a mountain, then a rock fell (blocking the entrance to the cave). They said to one another, Pray to Allah by virtue of the best deeds that you have done. One of them said, O Allah, my parents were elderly and I used to go out and tend to my flocks, then I would milk them and bring the milk to my parents for them to drink from it, then I would give some to my children. One night I came home late and found them sleeping. I did not want to wake them, and the children were crying at my feet. I kept waiting and the children kept crying until dawn broke. O Allah, if You knew that I did that for Your sake, then open a way for us through which we can see the sky. So a way was opened for them…”
(Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 2102; Muslim, 2743)
The Prophet (sallAllahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) said: “The best of the women of Paradise are Khadeejah bint Khuwaylid, Faatimah bint Muhammad, Aasiyah bint Mazaahim the wife of Pharaoh, and Maryam bint ‘Imraan – may Allaah be pleased with them.”
The fact that Maryam, Asiyah, Khadijah and Faatimah (radhiAllahu
anhunna) are described to be the best women who ever lived behoves our sisters to strive to be like them. In any situation of your life when you are confused, ask yourself – ‘How would Khadijah react to this? What would Faatimah do now? What made Asiyah so connected to Allah and how can I have true tawakkal like her? What motivated Maryam to be so chaste & dedicated to Allah and how can I be the same?’
After the example of the Prophet (sallAllahu ‘alaihi wa sallam), these four women are excellent guides and role models. Read their life, their struggle and their lessons. Our Ummah is looking upon you with great expectations!.The Prophet (sallAllahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) said: “The best of the women of Paradise are Khadeejah bint Khuwaylid, Faatimah bint Muhammad, Aasiyah bint Mazaahim the wife of Pharaoh, and Maryam bint ‘Imraan – may Allaah be pleased with them.”
